What is GUST-G?

GUST-G is a competitive, online, text-based 4x strategy game designed to be played by any modern TELNET client, a MUD client, or even a web-browser.

What is a 4x strategy game?

The four X's in 4x stand for Explore, Expand, Exploit, and Exterminate. In GUST-G, you will do all of these things by controlling a space-faring faction in a large-scale universal map. In your travels, you will explore procedurally-generated star systems, claim territory in said systems, exploit the natural resources found within them, and defend against/attack other player factions or non-player entities.

How does GUST-G work as a text-based game?

The large portion of the game is played through the use of an interactive menu system. You sit at the command center for your faction and control multiple fleets of ships for various tasks such as colonizing, capturing occupied planets, defending your territory, and exploring unknown space.

How much will GUST-G cost?

GUST-G is 100% free to play. Forever. There will be no micro-transactions, no donations, no Patreon, etc.

Can I be a GM or otherwise help with GUST-G?

GUST-G is very intentionally designed as a solo hobby project. I have no intention of ever "hiring" staff or accepting external resources. The best way to assist with GUST-G is by spreading the word and inviting your friends and family to try it out once it is in a playable state.

When can I play GUST-G?

There is currently no hard-set launch date, as much of this depends on my free time. GUST-G has been an idea I've been tossing around for over 8 years. If you're anxious to see/play GUST-G, feel free to drop me some words of encouragement on the Discord, as it will help me stay motivated to the project.
